Use of alcohol is very prevalent all over the world, but also many people have alcohol problems, including alcohol use disorder. However, both in general practice and in psychiatry, alcohol use disorders are often underdiagnosed. For instance when establishing the diagnosis in a patient with hypertension, anxiety or depression, a concomitant alcohol problem may not be recognized. Underdiagnosis of alcohol problems and failure to address these may result in patients not receiving the treatment they deserve. The Resource Centre can help you to find your way in the many sources of information available on these important issues.
