Henri-Jean Aubin, MD, PhD

Henri-Jean Aubin received his medical degree from Paris-Sud University, Paris, France, in 1990. He specialized in psychiatry and earned his PhD in clinical pharmacology at Paris-6 University. He is currently Professor of Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine at Paris-Sud University, Director of the Department of Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine at the University Hospital Paris-Sud, and Director of the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM) Addiction Science Research Team.
Professor Aubin’s clinical expertise includes motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy, and pharmacotherapy in substance-use disorders. Although his research interests involve all substances of abuse, Professor Aubin has worked mainly in the fields of alcohol- and nicotine-use disorders. His current areas of interest are outcome measures in alcohol dependence; online treatment interventions; efficacy of pharmacotherapy for alcohol, cocaine, and nicotine dependence; and suicide risk in substance-use disorders.
He has published more than 90 articles in peer-reviewed journals, including the British Medical Journal, Thorax, Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews, British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, PLoS ONE, Drug and Alcohol Dependence, and Alcohol and Alcoholism. Professor Aubin is currently President of the Société Française d’Alcoologie and Vice President of the European Federation of Addiction Societies (EUFAS).
